UX Strategy Process for B2B

UX strategy process for B2B projects

Stakeholder alignment is step one. Then we translate decisions into UX concept, content direction, and UX design.

My way of working is a structured UX strategy process that starts with a focused stakeholder alignment workshop, then turns that clarity into an executable concept and design direction.

The UX strategy process in practice

Most B2B web projects do not fail because teams lack skill.

They fail because the kickoff does not create real decisions, and the work starts without a shared direction.

Kickoff (alignment):

→ We align stakeholders on priorities and decision rules.

UX strategy:

→ We translate those decisions into journeys, requirements, and content structure.

UX design direction:

→ We turn the strategy into shippable structure and design guidance.

Step 1

Kickoff: stakeholder alignment workshop

A focused 1‑day workshop to create decision clarity before strategy and design begins.

Typical outputs:

  • Shared outcome statement (what success looks like)
  • Top priorities and explicit trade-offs
  • Decision rules (who decides what)
  • Initial hypotheses about users, context, and constraints

Step 2

UX strategy: constraints, goals, requirements

We review the status quo so the strategy is realistic and implementable

Typical outputs:

  • Current-state review (goals, constraints, stakeholders)
  • Key risks and unknowns
  • What must be validated next (research, analytics, interviews)

Step 3

UX strategy: content + information structure

We audit what exists, identify gaps, and define what content needs to do to support the customer journey.

Typical outputs:

  • Content audit findings (what to keep, change, remove)
  • Priority pages and messages
  • Inputs for information architecture and journeys

Step 4

UX design: direction + delivery support

With strategy decisions made, design becomes execution instead of debate.

Typical outputs:

  • UX concept direction (journeys, key requirements, page logic)
  • Wireframes / prototypes (as needed)
  • Visual direction and design support (in-house teams or end-to-end)
